Yoga unexpectedly came into my life after my GP suggested I should learn how to breathe… this adventure begin 20 years ago now. I have been teaching for around 12 years and trained with the British Wheel of Yoga initially. This has given me a solid base on which to learn and develop. I embrace all types of yoga and find I am drawn to different styles dependant on my personal needs. After becoming a mother, my approach became more women centred and restorative. I trained to teach pregnancy yoga with Judy Cameron, an esteemed yogi and experienced midwife and then had the honour of training with the inspiring Uma Dinsmore -Tuli with whom I studied Mother and Baby yoga and Womb yoga (yoga for fertility, menstrual issues, menopause and beyond).
My classes focus on acceptance and inclusivity, welcoming everyone and accepting that we all at different stages of life both physically, emotionally and mentally. I incorporate asana, pranayama and relaxation into each class. I have a deep personal love of the power of mantra and yoga nidra (Sleep of the yogis) which I include when appropriate. My teaching comes from a deep belief that yoga can benefit everyone and bring a deeper sense of contentment to us all.
I have worked with pregnant and postnatal women both through yoga and through my work in infant feeding and child development within the NHS. My wish is to aid women to experience a positive pregnancy and learn to trust their deep instinctual nature through pregnancy and motherhood. Womb yoga is an extension of this as it looks at all the stages of the female life cycle and encourages us to embrace change and open up to the deep wisdom and self knowledge within us.
As a support to my yoga practice I am also trained in Reflexology, Swedish massage, Ayurvedic massage and am currently studying reiki.
As a great woman once said;
No need to hurry, no need to sparkle, no need to be anybody but oneself.
