Yoga for Back Care

A gente, soothing and therapeutic class to restore the health and vibrancy of the spine.

This class is for you if you:

Have an old injury and are looking to ease back into exercising in a gentle and safe way
Have not exercised in a while
Think you are NOT flexible or young enough for yoga
Are open to explore new ways to get into your body (and out of your mind)
Prefer to practice in an informal and friendly environment

The sessions are particularly gentle and specifically designed to help relieve most common lower back complaints.
Every week we will focus on a small number of poses (asanas) specifically designed to create space, open and strengthen the low back, hips and hamstrings and ultimately relieve back pain.
You will learn how to use tools (props) to facilitate getting in and out of the poses and familiarise yourself with breathing techniques (pranayama) aimed at relaxing your body and increasing its receptivity and flexibility.
You will furthermore learn the basic elements of correct posture and how to move mindfully and purposefully on and off the mat thus taking these learnings away with you and applying them to your daily life.
Every class includes a short meditation.

Gaya Yoga

Originally from the South of Italy, Lisa came to the UK to improve her English and never left.
After spending two decades in the corporate world providing interpreting services into English and Italian to both national and international companies and following the untimely loss of her father, she discovered yoga and with it her true calling.
Lisa trained in London, India and Los Angeles under the guidance of a number of sought-after and internationally acclaimed teachers and spiritual masters.
A strong interest in mindfulness, meditation, psychology and neuroscience coupled with her own profound experience of the transformative power of yoga for mind, body and soul, led her to complete a specialised training in Advanced Yoga Psychology in Los Angeles with yoga teacher to the celebrities and licensed psychotherapist, Ashley Turner.

Her main interest is in the application of yoga as medicine for mind, body and soul and she is passionate about making this sacred practice available to everybody regardless of age, physical shape/size and cultural background.
She believes that it is through movement that we express and enjoy our aliveness and that the human body is designed to move and flourish at every stage of its earthly journey.
She specialises in Hatha Yoga but also offers Vinyasa flow and Restorative/therapeutic yoga.
Lisa is also a certified meditation instructor and continues to refine and hone her skills by attending workshops and further training both in London and abroad.
She is comfortable working with the full spectrum of physical bodies and abilities.
