I am currently at the exciting stage of seeing what works with this age group. I like to get feed back at the end of each class by asking what the children would like to do in the next session. Games that have nothing to do with yoga in which I have incorporated asanas, seem to be very popular. Not what I expected and heartening is the request for the Relaxation which we do at the end of the class. They often want to do more of it! I believe this shows how in touch children are. They instinctually want to balance up this fast paced world with some quietness, and are present enough to know this and feel the benefits.
We sometimes use music in the sessions. We cover a broad spectrum, from Classical to Rap, Folk to New Age. Using sound seems to inspire the movements and help them become more fluid, easier to do and more enjoyable.
