Yoga with Paul

I have been practising yoga since 1995 and have taught over 6,500 yoga classes since starting teaching in 2002, including over 500 online and 50 1:1 classes. I believe that as well as being beneficial for mind, body and spirit, yoga should also be enjoyable.

I have the Yoga for Health Foundation General Training Scheme and Remedial Training Scheme certificates. I have studied with teachers from various yoga traditions and incorporate these diverse influences into my teaching. I undertake Continuing Professional Development each year to maintain and develop my own knowledge, skills and teaching.

Students are encouraged to work within their own body limits throughout and to develop the awareness to facilitate this. Whilst there are some postures and stretches that we do regularly, classes also feature a wide range of different postures and variations. Alternative postures and variations are offered to suit different levels of ability and students are also free to do their own thing. I make considerable use of sequence work, teaching a wide range of sequences for various ability levels. Relaxing breathing techniques and mudras also feature regularly in class. All classes are 90 minutes and include a 15 minute guided relaxation at the end.

For almost 10 years from 2008 I was a Trustee of the Yoga for Health and Education Trust whose strapline is "Yoga for All" and work with both the "fit and well" and those with health issues. I have worked with students with a wide range of health issues including hip / knee / shoulder replacement, stroke, stress, anxiety and depression.

I taught yoga for Adult Learning for over 11 years but from 2015 have taught predominantly private classes plus a couple of local leisure centre classes.
