I started to practise Ashtanga Yoga in 2007, and have travelled a long and colourful road since then of going beyond the limits of my physical strength and mental determination. Having a daily, committed yoga practice has been a source of strength through illness and tough life events, embedding within me a calmer outlook on everything that happens on and off the mat. Playing around with postures that seem impossible is a great lesson in the importance of grasping to bring everything you strive for within reach. Rather than saying 'I can't do this', I learned to say 'I can't do this yet, but I'm laying the groundwork.'
My teaching consists of two methods: 1) a balance of teaching Ashtanga Yoga in the traditional sequence of postures that the father of Ashtanga Yoga, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, taught to his students, and 2) workshops and master classes based around specific strength and flexibility training routines, targeting weak, tight or tight areas such as the core, hips, hamstrings, shoulders and spine.
I adore teaching yoga, and bring a light-hearted approach to my classes. I help you to find alignment and to go deeper into the postures by giving verbal and hands-on adjustments, and always bringing your awareness to the relationship between your breath, your movements, and finding stillness within each pose.
