Breath for Well-being

Although we all know how to breathe, most of us, most of the time hold and manipulate the breath in the unconscious attempt to ease life's stresses and strains. This once a month Sunday class offers an opportunity to re-establish a healthy breathing pattern. Breath is considered by many health experts an easy way to turn on the relaxation response of our nervous system and has a positive effect on a number of stress related physical conditions like headaches, asthma, high blood pressure, IBS. When practiced regularly, it can help with anxiety and depression.
You will learn:
- how to become more conscious of underlying unconscious breath patterns, and build a new relationship with your breath
- simple movement to open the chest and release the abdomen
- easy breathing practices that can be used daily

Therapeutic yoga series

I have been teaching yoga for 15 years, originally training in the Iyengar tradition. I have since expanded my practice of yoga beyond the form of the physical body to incorporate more subtle energetic aspects such as prana (qi). I have trained with Donna Farhi, studied somatic movement and Ayurveda, and am an NLP Master Practitioner. More recently I have been studying Qi Gong with Master Zhixing Wang.

I teach one to one classes from my home studio in central London near Baker Street and small group classes in London, Kent and abroad, focusing on therapeutic aspects of yoga. For more info go to: Http://www.luizakirk.com
