Deep, relaxing late Sunday night Yin Yoga

This Sunday night class is all geared towards winding up your weekend with a deep relaxation readying you for a good nights sleep and positive week ahead.

Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga with postures o that are held for longer periods of time—five minutes or longer per pose is typical.

Yin Yoga poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues—the tendons, fascia, and ligaments—with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. Yin Yoga poses are also designed to improve the flow of qi, the subtle energy said in Chinese medicine to run through the meridian pathways of the body. Improved flow of qi is hypothesized to improve organ health, immunity, and emotional well-being.

This class is open to all ages, levels and abilities to improve flexibility, peace of mind and an inner sense of peace.

The class is £10 for a drop in or £35 for a block booking of 4 classes (to be used within 5 weeks). Limited mats available.

Eleanor Coates - Know Yoga Know Peace - Ashtanga, Hatha & Yin Yoga teacher - Bristol

It was at the foothills of the Himalayas that I became Yoga Alliance certified in Ashtanga Yoga. I then returned back to the UK after almost 4 years of being abroad and began to teach Ashtanga Yoga in North London. The powerful results and positive feedback that came from my students encouraged that teaching yoga was my call in life.

After teaching for some time, I came to the decision to do the Teacher Training Course for Hatha Yoga, to facilitate teaching yoga to those who are beginners or have physical disabilities – as Ashtanga isn’t always everyone’s cup of chai. So, off I returned to India to learn everything hatha yoga and intelligent sequencing has to offer. I stayed in India for 6 months, immersing myself in the culture, the chaos and the calm.

A long period of time was spent in Rishikesh – the "yoga capital of the world" on the edge of the sacred River Ganges. It was here that I started deepening my practice in Ashtanga with the charismatic and encouraging Kamal Singh – and started practicing the Second Series of Ashtanga. It was also an honour and delight to learn under Usha Devi (BKS Iyengar’s direct student) on an intensive course in Iyengar, to consolidate my knowledge of anatomy and physical ailments that can be improved by yoga.

With my 400 hours of teacher training under my belt and experience teaching in the UK, India and Nepal, I intend to spread the tradition of yoga to those who need, and want, it most.

Studies & practice completed under:
David Swenson (Ashtanga), Kino Macgregor (Ashtanga), Michael Stone (Ashtanga, philosophy), John Scott (Ashtanga), Roger Cole (Iyengar, anatomy), Usha Devi (Iyengar), Paul and Suzee Grilley (Yin)
