Jo first became interested in yoga at the age of 16 at high school when she noticed that it helped her feel more grounded and less stressed for upcoming exams. Later in life she was inspired by a workplace yoga teacher and her flexible 60+ year old body and compassionate approach.
After some years of dabbling in different styles Jo did her first Iyengar yoga class and was immediately drawn in by the precision, rigour and integrity in the tradition. Jo has noticed that a continued uninterrupted practise of the eight limbs of yoga helps her lead a more balanced and full life. Jo is a certified Iyengar teacher having trained with respected teachers Christian Pisano and June Whittaker-Pisano in a rigorous three year course. Jo has practised yoga in the Iyengar tradition for nine years, and has been teaching for over four years. She maintains a regular self-practise and continues to attend workshops and retreats with senior teachers. She aims to convey her understanding of yoga, adapting it to the needs of her students irregardless of their physical abilities and background.
Jo encourages students to work with truth, and with compassion forthemselves; she helps students use props to help them progress while at the same time respecting the alignment of the pose. Jo aims to share her knowledge of yoga with students to assist them to connect to their inner teacher and bring about positive changes in their lives.
