Is a very general term that can encompass many of the physical types of yoga. It is the area of raja yoga best known in the West, based on physical purification and strengthening as a means of self-transformation. It encompasses a system of over 1000 asanas (postures), designed to promote mental and physical well-being and to allow the mind to focus and become free from distraction for long periods of meditation, along with pranayama (breath control). If a class is described as Hatha style, it is probably going to be slow-paced and gentle and provide a good introduction to the basic yoga poses.

London’s leading private yoga and pilates provider, has opened its first studio, Yoga West, for Chiswick & Acton in West London.
The studio hosts yoga and pilates classes and courses from London’s best instructors in a beautiful, welcoming and relaxed space. There are classes and courses suitable for all levels and all ages.
All classes are drop in so you can just come along. Please let us know if you would like a particular style or class time, and if enough people want it we’ll add it.
