I began practising yoga in the Kashmir tradition in 2003 while studying for my PGCE Primary in London. This approach is based on Advaita (non-dualism of the body-mind) encouraging presence and mindfulness during practice.
Since then I have tried out many styles including hatha, vinyasa, power, hot and ashtanga in my quest for understanding the philosophy and practice of yoga. I have also developed my personal practice by incorporating what I have learnt from the different styles.
I taught yoga and guided meditation to my primary school classes for eleven years, as enrichment to the National Curriculum. Teaching children aged 3-11 years old and adapting lessons for those with special needs was both challenging and rewarding.
Becoming a yoga teacher is the next step on my own journey, inspired by a desire to share what I have learnt. I qualified through the British School of Yoga, where I continue my studies today.
