Runners Yoga

The runners class enters its 5th year. Carla teaches from her background experience as a runner and brings a deep stretch approach to improve flexibility and target areas which are prone to tightness and injury including hamstrings, psoas muscle, gluteus, and strengthening muscles surrounding the knees. Carla has a good understanding of the runner from her own background in sports and the classes emphasize breath; flexibility; strength and balance. Carla is a very experienced Yoga teacher who has been teaching classes; 1-1 sessions and retreats, since 1999. Carla has a limit to the numbers in the class making sure you get individual attention! Carla studied both with Iyengar and Ashtanga Vinyasa methods. Ashtanga in India with Derek Ireland, Iyengar with Shandor Remete in Australia - Shadow Yoga, in the 80's.

Her classes are sympathetic to individuals and their uniqueness, so not a one size fits all approach. With postural emphasis, classes are ideal for everyone who wants to benefit from developing their own self-practice with deep stretching, postural alignment and self-discovery through the breath. The class always concludes with a yoga mindfulness practice which emphasises the breath and being 'present' fully in the moment.

Beginners are welcome as are more experienced yoga students. Carla has been practicing yoga since the mid 80's and has spent time in India and in Crete in the 90's at The Practice Place with Derek Ireland before qualifying as an Iyengar teacher in 1999. Friendly, sociable evening classes at Anerley Methodist Church on Wednesday evening and Friday morning wth workshops to enhance your understanding of yoga monthly on Saturday's at the Waterside Centre in the Lake Room. Numbers are limited with a free drop-in class in offered when you register online. Drop in and block bookings. First class free if you register on website. Equipment supplied.
