Hatha yoga for all abilities, including mindfulness, pranayama, relaxation and core strengthening. Energise the body, calm the mind.
My teaching style is Hatha, meaning Sun and Moon, balance. I focus on strengthening the body, stress relieving techniques, pranayama (breath work), meditation and mindfulness; looking after ourselves, making time to simply be.
I have practiced Yoga since 1995 and have experienced many different styles including Hatha, Ashtanga, Iyengar, Dru, Hot Yoga & Sun Power. My teaching is informed by many of the wonderful teachers I have been fortunate enough to learn with including Philip Xerri, Maarten Vermaase, Jayadhara, Swami Vishwamandala, Mona Fairholme, Ken Thompson, Di Kendall and many more.
I have been teaching for over two years, and hold the BWY teaching diploma (level 4); my tutor was Jayadhara. The course and consequent teaching have been one of the best things I have ever done. I was inspired to teach following completing the Foundation course, again with Jayadhara, some years ago.
Loose comfortable clothing should be worn; cotton tracksuit bottoms, loose t-shirt and a warm jumper for example. Feet will be bare in class but if you like, socks with a grip on the soles (such as ‘ToeSox’) may be worn. Bring warm socks to put on in relaxation.
A small number of mats, blocks and belts are available to borrow for the session but if you have your own please bring them.
Please bring at least one blanket.
A bottle of water and a sense of humour are also good items to bring along and if you can arrive at least 5 minutes before the class begins that would be great. We start and finish on time.
Anything Else?
Before class it is important that you complete a health questionnaire – this can be emailed to you on request. The form is necessary for your safety and to enable me to offer alternative postures.
Do not eat a meal for 2 hours before coming.
Classes are currently for over 18’s only although I hope to offer teens classes soon.
Please don’t bring your children with you. I understand childcare difficulties but unfortunately I haven’t facilities to look after children.
Don’t forget that blanket – and bring a cushion too if you like.
I look forward to welcoming you to a class soon; I hope you enjoy your Yoga; smile, breathe and have fun!
