YOGA WITH ISABEL IN KENT (Also see Facebook for more information)

I have practiced yoga for over 25 years and teaching since 2010. I am also a biologist and a counsellor.

My yoga teaching is grounded in classical yoga as well as anatomy, neuroscience and psychology, and informed by the latest research in health and wellbeing.

I teach a style of yoga in the Scaravelli tradition, where we undo tension very deeply and reclaim the body’s natural movement (regardless of age, body shape, gender, etc.). The ‘aim’ of this yoga is to help us become who we are; to feel at ease ‘in our own skin’.

I provide private specialist yoga sessions. This is a highly therapeutic modality which is bespoke to the student and addresses the specific habitual psychological, postural and tension patterns which may be affecting freedom of movement, contributing to physical injury/illness or impacting mental health.

I also run a number of group classes. In these, you won’t practice yoga to become good at ‘making yoga shapes’. We practice to integrate body/mind/emotions, enable functional movement and promote health. Through mindful practice we become aware of unhelpful postural and movement habits; we start noticing how our emotions and thoughts manifest in, and shape our bodies. This helps us reclaim movement, freedom and strength and find ways to deal with stress and pressure.

Yoga also help us find our place in the world, clarify our relationship with what surrounds us and bring inspiration into our lives. In this way, we feel both lighter and more sure-footed (both literally and metaphorically).
