All of us including myself will have experienced trauma either mild, moderate or severe at some point in our lives. This really is a normal component of our individual journey. However, it is vital that we recognise this within ourselves and learn to regulate sensations in our body to enable us to be free of anxiety or stress, thus embracing the peaceful balanced life we all truly deserve. Sometimes approaching these issues with more talk (which is certainly valid) doesn't always work and what is needed is for us to make friends with our body again, then our natural state of being has a chance to fearlessly arise gently and spontaneously. Yoga and meditation are famously known to be practices that help with this task, nonetheless not all these methods are ‘one size fits all’. The aim of this class is to promote inclusivity to those that may not feel confident or comfortable enough within themselves to join a Yoga group, and also to those that do, but are content to cradle the simplicity of this form. The aim of this class is to enjoy very uncomplicated, light, manageable and mindful movement to address the uncomfortable sensitivities that may be experienced when a practice is too overwhelming, leading us to give up prematurely, feeling more anxiety and hopelessness. Together we will breathe, move and find stillness through connective asana (poses) designed to go slowly and gently allowing confidence to flourish naturally. Meditation (trauma based) will also play a part to encourage contentment within ourselves, reclaiming our agency, body and mind. Noticing that through adjusted practice you too can benefit from the wondrous gifts holistic teachings can offer.
