Vikasa Mandala Flow

Yoga is a tool for personal growth and evolution – this is the foundation of the VIKASA Yoga philosophy.

This Yoga Method is rooted in the ancient traditions of Hatha Yoga practice with some influence from Himalayan Vinyasa and higher Taoism practices. A fusion of the three lineages allows for a very effective and complete system resulting in personal evolution.

This class skilfully weave together outer yoga practices (yama, niyama, asana + pranayama) with inner yoga practices (pratyhara, dharana + dhyana) as they were originally designed to be, by the ancient sages.

During this 1.5 hour Mandala Yoga practice supports a practitioner’s vairagya (detachment and emotional control) through the avenue of repeated inward turning reversing the consumption of the typically sensory-trapped mind. As one gains peace in the inner world through this practice, the outer world pulls the senses outward less. The result is a lasting truce with the unstable nature of manas (outer mind related to emotions).

Because our lives are naturally asymmetrical, it is also important to use and recognise the mandala structure as something perfectly balanced and symmetrical which makes a very special influence on the nervous system and brain. For the mandala technique to really work, the practitioner must be fully present with the asanas, vinyasas, mudras, breathing techniques, mantras and visualisations.

This ultimate yogic experience will help you achieve a balanced distribution of energy within your physical body, this results in a balanced emotional and mental state.

The method is based on UNIVERSAL YOGA rules by influencing all marmas (points) of the body, using the 7 parameters of the physical development:

What began as a personal practice – born out of an introduction to mediation during my childhood martial arts training – has become something of a mission; to help others intelligently know and heal their physical body, emotions and spirit.
My evolution from yogi to yoga teacher,advanced practitioner in Thai Yoga Massage and other Holistic Therapies, has been a natural development based upon the importance of continual growth and learning. Forever a student, I’m continually looking to develop my understanding, which is where yoga teaching prompted further education in anatomy and therapy and linked intrinsically through to diet, wellness, the soul and energy.
For me, yoga is not solely the practice that you perform on your mat, but an approach to living, to your friendships, your relationships, your work. It’s an energy that you take from the mat and transfer to all areas of your life.
As both yoga teacher and therapist, I look at the body as a whole; your energy, your emotional self and your physical body, taking a fully holistic, intuitive and tactile approach to assisting the process of self-healing.
