Why I practice yoga?
Since my early 20s, I have been deeply intrigued in finding tools that promote self-development, often burying my head in books by Louise L. Hay, Eckhart Tolle and Anthony Robbins (to name a few). Finding greater clarity in my mind and developing resilience towards life’s stresses has been the top of my agenda for most of my adulthood.
Curious to find a way to quiet the mind, I took my first yoga class in 2005 in my home city in Calgary, Canada. Within an hour of using the teachers prompts to stretch my body and take conscious breaths (which is something we naturally do on autopilot) I felt lighter in both my body and mind. Naturally, as a person with a never-ending to-do list, I was amazed by yoga's ability to help slow me down.
After committing to a regular practice, I noticed more clarity in my mind while becoming physically stronger. Nowadays, working as a finance professional in London, my world, (probably much like yours) is filled with general “hectic-ness”. I want to share yoga as a tool to help build more resilience against everyday demands and to help you instill more mindfulness, patience and self-care into your life.
My classes:
My classes are designed to guide students into stronger awareness of breath and help calm the mind. I believe that yoga is an amazing tool to help optimise the health and wellness of your body and mind. My goal is to create an uplifting and open environment in which we can gain knowledge, develop tools of insight and open up our bodies to a calmer version of ourselves.
Qualifications:
I completed my training in Baptiste Power Yoga, which is a set sequence based on Hatha yoga designed to systematically open, stabilise and rejuvenate the physical and mental body.
