Wednesday Yoga/Pilates Fusion

Pilates and yoga fusion classes are a combination of core stabilizing, posture enhancing Pilates from the West and the ancient practice of balancing, calming Yoga from the East.
The slow, precise Pilates exercises are designed to strengthen the deeper postural muscles, thus protecting the spine against injury and promoting good posture. The flowing and properly aligned yoga asanas, coupled with breathing and relaxation practices build flexibility and focus the mind. Each muscle group will be strengthened and stretched to bring balance to your body. No two classes will be the same, with a different focus each week to keep things interesting!
The class is suitable for everyone, including beginners and those with pain or previous injury. However, there will be enough challenge even for those with experience in yoga and/or Pilates and these classes will help bring awareness of proper alignment to your practice.

I qualified as a physiotherapist in 2006 and have treated a wide variety of musculoskeletal, neurological and cardiorespiratory conditions in hospital, community and private practice settings. I seek to provide a more holistic form of therapy than is traditionally taught in physiotherapy schools in the UK and this is strongly influenced by my yoga studies both at home and overseas.
I began practicing yoga as a teenager whist recovering from a serious car accident. Once I realised how much I benefited physically and emotionally, I was hooked! I graduated from a Yoga Alliance registered teacher training in 2011. I have since gone on to take advanced yoga teacher courses in pregnancy yoga and yoga for muscle imbalances at Yoga Campus in London, in teaching Vinyasa Flow at Bristol City Yoga, and in Iyengar yoga at The Himalayan Iyengar Centre in India.
I trained as a Pilates teacher through the Australian Institute of Physiotherapy and Pilates and have also trained in pre and post-natal Pilates.
