YIN Yoga

Yin Yoga is a calmer and more meditative form of yoga that uses seated and lying postures, held for a longer period of time - typically 3 to 5 minutes - while maintaining deep breathing. The poses apply mild to moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body (tendons, ligaments and fascia) with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints, improving flexibility, and harmonizing the body’s flow of energy. Modifications are the norm and the use of props is encouraged to prevent overstretching. Yin Yoga is an ideal supplemental practice to active forms of yoga and exercise. Its focus on stillness and mindfulness makes it a tool for dealing with stress and anxiety in today’s fast-paced world.

Yoga with Freddie

Freddie is an experienced yoga teacher, regularly teaching classes in London since 2007. She is passionately curious and influenced by diverse styles of yoga, philosophies and movement modalities. Her teaching style integrates elements of applied anatomy and movement science into a steady yet unrushed flow of breath-initiated poses, which help developing mobility and, in time, can make the body flexible and strong. In particular, Freddie encourages her students to be mindful through quality of movement and attention to the breath, guiding them towards an enhanced feeling of wellbeing and a clearer sense of self.

Freddie took up the practice of yoga after her first trip to India in 2000 and completed her teacher training with the British Wheel of Yoga in 2007. She holds a 500+hr senior teacher diploma, and is also qualified as a 60h Foundation Course tutor and as an assessor of trainee teachers.

Freddie has been teaching thousands of classes (Slow Flow, Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, Yin, Restorative) and accumulating well over a thousand hours of training, but she considers herself a lifelong learner. Her special interests lie in biomechanics, strength training, embodied movement, neuroscience, yoga history and philosophy, non-dogmatic spirituality, mindfulness practices and mental health.
