Mixed Ability Yoga Classes

My teaching focuses largely on the importance of the breath and linking it with each posture. In time, this becomes a moving meditation: creating emotional balance, mental clarity and well-being. All my classes are non competitive and begin with a short relaxation to still the mind to bring you into the present moment.
This is followed by gentle limbering moves and sequences to gently warm up the muscles and joints in preparation for posture work, (asanas).
Asanas strengthen and tone the body and improve the flow of energy, helping to regulate the physical systems of the body and breath. The objective is not how far you can stretch or contort your body but to combine stability (stira) with ease and relaxation (sukha). All postures are modified to individual ability and to address medical conditions.
Classes end with a period of deep relaxation. As all my classes are 75 or 90 minutes there is more time to explore the broader benefits yoga brings.

Alison Foster Yoga

I love yoga. It is my way of life. For the past 30 years yoga has helped me physically; helping to overcome injuries and general wear and tear. But more importantly, it has helped me mentally. Especially through times of hormonal imbalance, mood swings, episodes of anxiety, depression and the menopause.

I have practiced many different styles of yoga with wonderful and incredibly knowledgeable teachers, developing a committed and continuous practice that includes postures (asanas), breathing (pranayama), deep relaxation (yoga nidra), chanting (mantra) and meditation. My practice also includes yoga retreats, workshops, courses, satsangs (gatherings with Q&A) and kirtans (music & chanting).

Teaching:
I have been teaching yoga since 2015. My teaching focuses largely on the importance of breathing techniques and linking it with each posture. In time, this becomes a moving meditation; creating emotional balance, mental clarity and well-being.

I am blessed to have built/converted & extended an outbuilding into my very unique and truly wonderful yoga studio in my back garden.where I offer group classes, one-ones, workshops and events.
