Rāmadarsh

Rāmadarsh (often known as Rāma) began his yoga journey over 30 years ago. With previous experience in Buddhist philosophy and meditation, he soon began to practice yoga and later travelled to India where he lived and worked in various ashrams gaining first-hand experience of yoga’s effective and profound practices and teachings. It was in India where he was initiated into the Daśanāmi tradition and received his name from his Guru, Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati.
Returning to the UK, Rāma became a resident at Mandala Yoga Ashram based in Wales. During his 3½ years living in the ashram he deepened his understanding and experience of the theory and practices of yoga. While living at the ashram, Rāma completed a 1 year meditation course as well as a 2 year yoga teacher training course. He also studied kriya yoga, mantra and regularly lead kirtan (Sanskrit chanting), all under the guidance of his mentor and spiritual guide, Swami Nishchalananda.
In 2013/14 he attended a 6 month training in Yoga and Mental Health (Bristol, UK) helping him to develop his understanding and skills of how yoga is able to relieve and support those suffering with mental health conditions.
Over recent years Rāma has studied Sanskrit, prana vidya (harnessing and healing with prana) and also completed an in-depth course on the principles and practices of Ayurveda (commonly described as yoga's 'sister science') which encompasses yogic diet, seasonal routines and ways in which one can utilise herbs towards healing the body. Rāma continues to pursue his love of yoga, deepening his knowledge and experience through continued training and ongoing personal practice. He continues to be inspired through his connection with nature and his love of sound and their potential to heal and bring balance. Based now in Lincolnshire, he regularly teaches both private and group classes both in hatha yoga, mindfulness / meditation and Sanskrit chanting. He also sometimes hosts online classes in hatha yoga and meditation / relaxation.
