In India, Yoga was traditionally practiced predominantly by men whereas in western culture it is more popular with women. Unfortunately, this fact discourages a lot of men from joining a class as they might think that they are either not flexible enough or the whole idea is just too ‘pink and fluffy’ for them.
This presents a real ‘missed opportunity’ as the physical and mental benefits from regular Yoga practice are equal if not greater for men.
‘Yoga for Blokes’ is intended to provide an environment where men feel comfortable to practice Yoga and a teaching style that resonates.

I have been practicing Hatha Yoga for 29 years and teaching for 14 years. I am a member of the Dharma Yoga Centre and study under the guidance of Swami Dharmananda Saraswati Maharaj.
My approach to teaching to to make Yoga relevant to the modern world while retaining the validity of the traditional Hatha Yoga practices.
Understandably there is a lot of interest in mental health and wellbeing and my class is intended to keep students fit and healthy both physically and mentally!
