Iyengar Yoga came into my life in 1995 at Adult Education classes Bradford and soon realised its profound benefits. Through the rigorous 2 year teacher training programme I qualified as a Certified Iyengar Yoga teacher in 2000, my continuous dedication to yoga is reflected in my Level 3 teaching status.
Iyengar Yoga has been incredibly transformative on physical, mental and emotional levels, providing a structured approach to developing good habits. My daily practice gives me peace of mind, balance and stability in my busy family life. I love teaching a wide and varied range of people and am constantly rewarded through my students experiencing the benefits of practicing Iyengar Yoga.
Yoga is a life long pursuit of knowledge which I am continuously developing through my own practice, attending weekly teachers classes, participating in the annual convention and regular workshops with visiting senior teachers based in both England and India.
As a registered Iyengar Yoga Therapeutic Teacher I have a keen interest in the therapeutic application of yoga. Yoga therapy supports students with a wide variety of health issues from muscular skeletal problems to people recovering from strokes who need a more individualised approach than a regular class setting can facilitate.
I am delighted to share my knowledge as a mentor supporting teacher trainees through the comprehensive teacher training process. Its particularly rewarding passing my knowledge and experience onto the next generation of teachers.
Through my volunteering work I am secretary for Bradford District Iyengar Yoga (BDIY). Together with other dedicated volunteers we promote the teachings of Iyengar Yoga through workshops and work to connect the Iyengar community through social events.
My family home is in the beautiful valley of Wharfedale, West Yorkshire. I’m lucky to absolutely love my work as a yoga teacher. Before focusing my energy on yoga full time I had a varied career. Most recently I spent ten years working in the charitable sector, during this time I gained a First Class Masters Degree in Business from Leeds University. I’m grateful to share my life with my husband and twins Eva and Finn, we have a bustling active enjoyable time together.
