I have practised yoga for some 20 years. In 2011/2012 I took the British Wheel of Yoga’s Foundation Course, and in 2013/2014 I trained to become a yoga teacher with Camyoga, qualifying as a 200-hour diploma tutor. In April 2016 I attended the London based Restorative Yoga training with Judith Hanson Lasater, and qualified as a Relax and Renew® Level 1 Trainer. Ridgeway Yoga was born in November 2014. After a 3-year break after major surgery, and a change in jobs, I returned to teaching in November 2019. The pandemic and two house moves prevented teaching in person from March 2020. I returned to teaching from the end of May 2021.
I believe that yoga can cultivate a greater awareness and understanding of the body, and how it moves. Yoga can help to untie and unbind the habitual knots and patterns of movement we acquire over time. By accepting our bodies and getting to know our minds, we can regain a feeling of wholeness. By focusing on the breath, body and mind I also believe that yoga can help people to unwind and de-stress, develop strength and flexibility, and improve mental and physical balance. My teaching style is genuine and non-judgemental, and I remain indebted to my teachers Jane Dawson, Vanessa Lynch, Denise Irwin, the teaching faculty at Camyoga, particularly Beverley Nolan and Rachael Moore, and Judith Hanson Lasater.
