Yoga in the Greek mountains

Situated in the Greek mountains, The Lotus Tree offers an idilic setting for yoga. Rising out of the Aegean, Pelion provides the perfect mix of beautiful beaches, ancient forests & mountains. The local produce is delicious you will wake up to juicy fresh fruits, sweet local honey and thick Greek yoghurt. Pelion is unspoilt Greece at its best. This retreat is designed to enable you to deepen your yoga practice and connect to yourself in nature.

The lotus tree is a tastefully converted 19th century mansion house. A marble hammam (turkish steam bath), tropical rain shower and hot tub are the perfect places to relax your muscles after yoga. With a large communal lounge, patio and garden you can find many areas on site to relax with other guests or a book.

Yoga: Give full attention to your body, heart and mind by practicing yoga 2-3 times a day for 1 week. This retreat offers a balance of strong dynamic and gentle calming yoga techniques. The practice will combine the best of Hatha, Ashtanga and Yin yoga to create a well balanced retreat during which you will grow in strength, flexibility, self awareness and inner peace. Group numbers are kept small so that you receive personal guidance, adjustments and focused attention to improve. The classes will be tailored to suit the level and needs of the group so whether you are a beginner or advanced practitioner you are welcome.

Morning yoga: Energising sun salutations (great for core strength, flexibility and weight loss), strong standing sequences accompanied by twists, arm balances, backbends, seated and inverted poses with a deep relaxation to finish.
Afternoon yoga: A range of postures will be guided in an organic, explorative way inviting a playful and curious modality for moving with your body. These sessions will help you to wind down for the evening and eek out any aches and pains.
Meditation and pranayama (breathing): These 1 hour sessions will look at simple techniques for creating a conducive environment for meditation to spontaneously occur.

The Teacher: Alex is a senior accredited British Wheel of yoga teacher. She has been teaching yoga from a holistic standpoint for 8 years and has great knowledge working with injuries, she can always find a way for you to grow even where you think you cannot. With a background in Hatha, Ashtanga, Vinyasa and yoga therapy Alex is well equipped to meet the varying needs of any group. She is also the CO-founder and Director of Yoga GPS. It is very important for Alex that you feel your practice develops during the retreat. All efforts will be made to ensure you get the guidance and attention you require.

Other activities: We arrange 2 trips to the local beaches so you can spend the day swimming and bathing in the sun. Other activities like caving, cycling, horse riding are also available (pre booking required).
