Finding Centre

A gentle exploration of your core. We will play with exercises to access, relax and condition the muscles that constitute your physical core in order to expand your practice.
Using a mixture of asana, pranayama, mudra and yoga nidra we will also consider the core from an energetic perspective and find ways of 'moving from the core' as well as allowing the core to move us.

Kirsty Mary Yoga

I started practicing with my mum when I was 14 as a way of managing teenage hormonal surges. I began to attend regular classes in my early twenties whilst training as an actor in London and loved exploring what my body could do and learning how to work with, rather than against it. My practice gradually developed to encompass a greater degree of releasing and opening along with all the strengthening and balancing and as a result, i moved towards meditation practice as well. Ten years later - in my early thirties, I completed an eighteen-month teacher training programme with the Life Centre in London, accredited by Yoga Alliance. This led me to 'up sticks' from London and spend nearly two years living, learning and occasionally teaching at Mandala yoga ashram in Carmarthenshire. After a short stint teaching in Stratford-upon-Avon, my partner and I were drawn back to the nourishing beauty of Wales. I now live and teach in the Llandeilo area.
I love to lead classes for students of all ages and stages. I enjoy combining contemporary understanding of anatomy and physiology with ancient wisdom concerning the energetic potency and potential of the human being to encourage optimum health and vitality. My teaching incorporates asana (mindful movement and traditional postures), pranayama (breathing practices to harness the full benefit of oxygen uptake), mudra (gestures that encourage a free flow of energy), ideo-kinetic visualisation (using imagination to access areas of the body/mind) and of course, deep relaxation (yoga nidra).
My practice is continually inspired and informed by my much-loved teachers, including Rod Stryker, Donna Farhi, Jeff Phoenix and Swami Nishchalanda.

Weekly classes:

I am currently taking a break from teaching weekly classes in order to focus more on one-to-one teaching and in-depth workshops.

Occasional workshops in the Llandeilo area. Next workshop will take place in early March in conjunction with the Lavender Project. More details to follow...

One-to-one sessions (both one-off and ongoing) at my home near Manordeilo (£30 per hour)
