Our hips are designed to have a full range of movement, however a sedentary lifestyle can inhibit this, leaving us feeling tight in not only the hips, but also the lower back. This two hour beginners yoga workshop will help alleviate symptoms such as tightness and restricted flexibility in the lower back, hips and pelvis.
Hip stretches can help to correct pelvis and lower spine misalignment and relieve lower back pain and stiffness. If this is an area you struggle with, especially if you are new to yoga, then this workshop is for you.
Within the session we’ll aim to find space in the hip joint with a combination of deep working yin poses for the joints and ligaments and muscle stretching asanas to lengthen inner thighs, free the hip flexors and release tight glutes and outer hips.
Lingering in poses and working through flowing sequences, you’ll find lightness and freedom in those hips. We’ll not only work through poses that stretch but also can strengthen the supporting muscles around the hips to further protect the joint.
Closing with a hip focused relaxation to set you up for the rest of the day.
Who is it for?
Perhaps you want to do more than a weekly class and fancy going a little deeper into your practice. This gentle introduction to yoga workshops is ideal if you’ve never tried more than a regular class before.
What to bring
Please bring your yoga mat, a small blanket, perhaps a drink although water is available at the venue. Do bring any other props you like to use such as bricks or blocks however any items you don’t have the teacher will have for you to borrow on the day.
