Would you like to bring more Yoga and Meditation into your day-to-day life but find the idea of starting a Self Practice daunting? Maybe you wonder what postures to do once you roll out your mat? Are you dabbling with self-practice but feel unsure about how best to structure it? Maybe you keep repeating the same practice and would like more variety? This workshop is divided into 3 parts and will help lay out a guiding map for a successful and enjoyable self-practice. It will provide simple tools, which can be used and deployed when required. You can book onto to just one of the workshops or come to all three, depending on your needs and interests!
Cost is £25 for each workshop or £60 for all three.
Part 1 - Asana - January 18th
We will explore the moving part of our practice in depth; how to structure it, what is most important, misconceptions about self-practice. Participants will be given a map, which they can use at home and adapt to their needs and requirements at the time of practice. We will address the purpose and benefits of self-practice and tailor asana sequences around this. This workshop is suitable for those who have been practicing yoga for at least 6 months.
Part 2 - Restorative - February 22nd
Restorative yoga offers huge benefits for balancing the nervous system. We do not always want or need to choose a dynamic yoga practice. There are times when a restorative practice is much more beneficial. A restorative practice can easily be cultivated in the comfort of one’s own home and can truly offer a sanctuary of peace and insight in a busy day to day to life. We will learn and practice a few simple postures and how to put them together in a coherent and beneficial way to bring a deep state of relaxation and to release body tension. This module is suitable for all, regardless of experience.
Part 3 - Pranayama and meditation techniques - March 22nd
Yoga is not really yoga unless practiced with breath awareness and mindfulness. We will explore introspective techniques to deepen our personal insight. The participants will be given practical exercises that they can practice at home in their own time. This module is also suitable for those who do not practice yoga at all and just want to benefit from the practice of meditation and breathing techniques, for relaxation purposes, to build awareness, for stress-management or for any other purpose.

Erika spent many years of her life in the corporate world, while also raising a family. She has practiced yoga for over 15 years. It was in 2007 however, that she feels she grasped the true potential of yoga. She was suffering from physical injuries and ill health, after years of stressful living had taken their toll, and found that yoga helped her heal on a profound level. This is also when she decided to pursue her teacher training completing her RYT 500 training with The Art of Contemporary Yoga in 2010. Erika is particularly interested in the therapeutic benefits of yoga and in the impact stress has on our lives. She hopes that her classes create a safe and warm space, where students can let go of external pressures and experience a place of stillness and pure being. Her classes are energetic, yet leaving space for her students to practice mindfulness and awareness. Erika teaches groups, privates and workshops in South West London and thrives from seeing students progress, grow and flourish from the benefits they reap from their yoga practice. She is also qualified to teach meditation, having completed her 200 hour training with Inside Meditation.
