This deeply relaxing session is an opportunity for you to step away from the constant demands of day to day life for a few hours and to reconnect with yourself. A much-needed chance to turn inwards and to hear once more the wise, intuitive voice which is so often drowned out by life's constant activity. In this circle of women, you can let go of your responsibilities for a while and fully embrace your need for space, silence and deep rest.
During the first part of the session, I'll guide you through a short, gentle movement practice to awaken the body, before transitioning into a sequence of deeply nurturing floor-based restorative postures, where the body is supported by blankets, bolsters and yoga blocks. These postures enable you to relax deeply and fully on the ground, stimulating the parasympathetic branch of the autonomic nervous system, so you can receive healing as the body rests. This will be followed by yoga nidra (deep relaxation/ meditation) and the session will end with kirtan, where we will sing mantras and songs that help us connect with Shakti - the Divine creative power which courses through every one of us.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and for more experienced yoga practitioners. It is ideal for those with ongoing health conditions, due to its gentle, healing approach. If you have a busy life with lots of physical activity, restorative yoga provides the ideal balance for this. Equally, if you have recently been feeling stressed, anxious or depressed, this workshop will provide the perfect antidote to the demands of the busy modern world. I teach hatha yoga, meditation and kirtan (mantra chanting) to people of all ages and abilities, with the aim of improving physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing. My yoga classes combine asana (postures) and pranayama (yogic breathing) and have a strong emphasis on mindfulness and relaxation. I specialise in one to one and small group sessions, to meet your specific needs and preferences. I recently completed a four day training in trauma sensitive yoga and my teaching style is compassionate and trauma informed. I also run workshops and weekend yoga retreats, the details of which are on my website. Please get in touch for more information. I look forward to hearing from you.
